Originally created in 1969, the Caran D'Ache 849 is a signature and famous design. During the 2012 TFWA World Exhibition a new gold-plated version was released, showcasing a goldbar tin with a matching ballpoint pen. Each pen has fittings that have been coated with three microns of gold and the finish has been achieved by electro-chemical treatment and micro-bead blasting giving it resistance to damage and wear. This pen takes the Goliath Giant refill.
